Last Thursday, Q8 and LifeGate presented the Q8 Sailing for Change project in Ravenna, which involves the distribution of innovative Ocean Cleaning kits at 40 ports in Italy. These kits consist of sponges capable of preventing and remedying accidental hydrocarbon spills.

Ravenna, October 4, 2024 - On the occasion of the Ravenna stage of the 'Q8 Sailing for Change' project, Q8 renews its commitment to the territory and community affected by the flood that impacted Emilia-Romagna. Already in 2023, in response to a similar event, Q8 had promoted the '1sqm for Emilia-Romagna' project of the Francesca Rava Foundation - NPH Italia ETS, supporting the repair and redevelopment of essential buildings such as schools, hospitals, and shelters, with the extraordinary involvement of over 55,000 ClubQ8 customers who enthusiastically joined this solidarity initiative.

On this occasion as well, Q8 and ClubQ8 customers are standing by the community, intervening with the help of the Francesca Rava Foundation to meet the most urgent needs of families by distributing essential goods.

Q8 Sailing for Change: Environmental Awareness and Innovation for More Responsible Navigation

On October 3, at the port of Ravenna, the fourth stage of the 'Q8 Sailing for Change' project took place. This initiative, created in collaboration with LifeGate to celebrate Q8's 40th anniversary in Italy, aims to promote more responsible behaviors among small boaters and fishing vessels, focusing on operations such as bilge water cleaning, refueling, and engine maintenance.

For the occasion, innovative Ocean Cleaning kits were distributed to ports and boaters, containing FoamFlex sponges, patented and developed by the Italian company T1 Solutions. Made of expanded polyurethane, these sponges can absorb up to 99% of oils, helping to prevent environmental contamination. The project aims to equip 40 Italian ports with these kits by 2025, with the potential to collect up to 2,700 tons of dispersed oils, equivalent to a fuel tank for over 960,000 cars.
