Rome, June 15, 2023 – In line with the goals of more sustainable mobility, Q8 launches Q8 HVO+ on the national market, a biofuel produced from renewable raw materials with an exclusive formulation, along with new versions of the Q8 Hi Perform product line featuring an innovative formulation that reduces environmental impact.
Q8 HVO+ will be available starting tomorrow at approximately 30 service stations across Italy, with further expansion planned in line with market demand as part of a multi-year growth plan. Compared to conventional diesel, Q8 HVO+ allows for a significant reduction in CO2 emissions throughout the product's life cycle, reducing emissions by up to 90%. The new product is compatible with most recent diesel engines, both for heavy transport vehicles and passenger cars, as it is fully comparable to traditional diesel fuel.
The base product for the formulation of Q8 HVO+ is HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), a high-quality, renewable biofuel produced through the hydrogenation of fats from either plant or animal origins and/or residues, waste, and by-products, thus embracing the principle of a circular economy. Q8's exclusive formulation combines HVO with specific, next-generation detergent products specifically designed for this biofuel, further enhancing the emissions reduction inherent to the base product while keeping the engine and fuel systems clean. It removes unburned hydrocarbon deposits from injectors, thus preserving their proper functioning over time. Additionally, the new formulation of Q8 HVO+ enables better combustion, reducing smoke and noise and facilitating cold starts.
In addition to this exclusive product, the new formulations of the Q8 Hi Perform product line will be available by July at Q8 sales outlets that already provide performance products. These new formulations improve the already high-quality performance in terms of engine cleanliness and performance and were developed with a focus on more sustainable mobility.
Specifically, the new formulation of the high-performance Q8 Hi Perform 100 Octane gasoline is distinguished by the use of a base product with a high proportion of renewable components. Thanks to the oxygenate content, this product will be labeled – for the first time in Italy – as E10, while remaining fully compatible with all cars on the road.
Moreover, the new formula for Q8 Hi Perform 100 Octane gasoline, using molecules with detergent properties, will provide high protection against wear and tear, keeping both older (indirect injection) and newer (direct injection) engines clean, resulting in reduced fuel consumption. The combined effect of the renewable component and next-generation detergents allows Q8 Hi Perform 100 Octane to achieve a reduction in CO2 emissions over its entire life cycle, compared to completely fossil fuel, by up to 9%.
The new formulation of the high-performance Q8 Hi Perform Diesel also features improved detergent properties and fuel-saving capabilities thanks to Q8’s exclusive additive package, resulting in reduced fuel consumption (as evidenced by specific road tests) and therefore reduced emissions of up to 12%, while keeping the engine in optimal condition due to specific cleaning properties for injectors.
"The launch of these new products," declared Fadel Al Faraj, CEO of Q8, "demonstrates the company's commitment to the ongoing energy transition, which is central to our corporate strategy aimed at offering increasingly sustainable mobility solutions. The innovative Q8 HVO+ and the new formulations of the Q8 Hi Perform product line are the result of continuous research and a propensity for innovation that have always distinguished Q8 in the industry. We are convinced," he continued, "that decarbonizing transportation will be achieved through a mix of sustainable sources that will also ensure the country's energy security. And along this journey, all products will play their part.
