Paderno Dugnano nuova flasghip Q8

Innovative Architectural and Technological Solutions that Combine Tradition and Environmental Sustainability to Create the Ideal Mobility Service Space in an Energy Transition Context.

Rome, September 10, 2021 – A jewel of architecture and design, the service station inaugurated today in Paderno Dugnano (MI) along the “Milano-Meda” expressway reflects Q8's vision for the network of the future: a service hub capable of best meeting the diverse needs related to mobility.

Developed on an 8,000 sqm area, the station provides numerous refueling options for vehicles with traditional internal combustion engines (gasoline, diesel, LPG, and soon methane) as well as electric vehicles, with six charging stations, including two ultrafast 300 kW chargers. Part of the investment related to methane and electric was funded through the European Union's "Connecting Europe Facility" in support of Q8's project, "Cre8 - Creating the Station of the Future," aimed at building infrastructure equipped with methane and electric charging capabilities.

The architectural design is inspired by the sails of the "Dhow," the typical Kuwaiti boat, representing the State of the major shareholder. These sails are also the distinctive icons of the Q8 brand, symbolizing tradition and innovation, and have been present in the Italian market for 35 years.

A central mast 25 meters high connects two canopy structures shaped like triangular sails, creating a total coverage area of 2,000 sqm. The first "sail canopy" covers the islands of traditional fuel dispensers and, symbolizing the energy transition, is connected through the mast to the second "sail canopy" that covers the dispensers for alternative fuels (LPG and methane) and electric charging stalls.

Elements inspired by the architectural forms and solutions of traditional Middle Eastern buildings are also evident in the design of the innovative, environmentally-friendly 1,200 sqm building that allows customers to choose from a variety of services according to their different needs, facilitated by the presence of about 60 parking stalls. These services range from the new "Svolta" shop format to Food & Beverage offerings provided by Chef Express, an Italian leader in catering, with Panella Bakery café and Roadhouse restaurant.

The station features advanced digital communication with customers, innovative energy efficiency solutions, LED lighting with motion sensors, the use of recyclable materials, renewable energy sources, rainwater recovery, zero-emission methane compressors, a building with light filtration and zoned thermoregulation, and canopies made of high solar reflectance materials to benefit the 70 kW photovoltaic system installed on their surface. These are the key features that make this station a unique excellence in Europe in terms of sustainability.

"Our presence here today," said Nawaf S. Al-Sabah, President of Kuwait Petroleum International, "demonstrates shareholders' interest in strengthening the Q8 brand in Europe and in Italy, a country the shareholders consider strategic and crucial in the European and Mediterranean downstream sector in particular."

"The Paderno station," added Azzam Al Mutawa, Executive Vice President of Marketing at Kuwait Petroleum International, "represents a model of excellence internationally for the Q8 network. It is an iconic station, one of the most significant investments that exemplarily combines tradition and innovation."

"Paderno Dugnano is our flagship," concluded Giuseppe Zappalà, CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Italia, "a project designed to offer not only fuel but also multiple and innovative services, combining sustainability and customer care as strategic factors in Q8's success."
